Some of you already know, but I thought I share with the rest: we put Richie Rich down late yesterday afternoon.
You might remember he made it to 15. What I haven’t told you is that the last couple of weeks he was in obvious decline. Thursday night he really struggled to breath for a couple of hours. It was the first I’d seen fear in his eyes, and that pretty much told me it was time.
Most of us were there with him. It was a simple procedure. I can’t say I ever want to do it again, but I also can’t say it was the wrong thing to do.
Anyway, that’s why it’s been a little quiet around here. It may be for a day or so. I’m sure you’ll understand.

Sorry for your loss. We just put down our beloved pet of 11 years. You could see the fear (and disease) in his eyes, but that made it no easier. Yet, we take some solace in knowing that had we not rescued him, he probably wouldn’t have been here. Too bad we can’t talk to our pets and hear them thank us.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved dog. It’s terrible to lose a loyal friend. My thoughts are with you.

You know I am sorry. I am glad that he got to come to Oklahoma one time.

My condolences on the loss of your faithful companion. My wife and I have two very smart, very special little Bichon/Shih Tzu’s, Kylie and Bailey. They just turned 11 last week. I treasure every day I have with them, and when “that day” comes it’ll be one of the most difficult in my life.

Thanks. I’m told I have a few more days of this, but it sure is weird to walk in the door and think he’ll be there.
