The summer schedule is in full effect. Don’t call before 8:00 a.m. unless you want my unhappy voice. The flip side? I’m available to chat at all hours of the night.

I wonder if this schedule will continue someday when there aren’t youngsters around to drive the clock?

I never made it to the grocery store yesterday. Yes, things are getting a little desperate around here. We had hummus and veges for dinner last night. There’s one frozen pizza in the freezer, so I figure I still have a buffer.

Part of the problem is that I’m having trouble switching to warm weather menus. I should probably make a list and go from there. What are you all eating right now?

We are completely – and I mean completely except for a couple of soup bones – out of beef. An order to Ney’s needs to be made today so that I can pick it up Saturday at Farmer’s Market. (They would probably never sell to me again if they knew how badly I messed up that last tenderloin!)

In addition to Grasch’s, the youngest mentioned Alterra is serving their beef, too. It’s been a lot of fun to watch them grow. They work very hard, so it’s great to see them rewarded.

We have a number of vehicles around here. One of them turned over 100,000 miles Monday night. Two others are in the shop. I’m on the scooter for the next couple of days, so it’s local driving only for me. (Oh! Another reason to skip the grocery store! While I can load that thing up, there’s no way it would handle the shopping that needs to be done.)

I want to reiterate that my soon-to-be daughter-in-law is in fact, practically perfect in every way. She diagnosed what was wrong with one of the cars at dinner Monday night about 24 hours before the repair shop was able. (BTW DIL, Papa is the one that labeled you such.)

Brookfield City News becomes a real website today. Yes it does, or I’ll…I’ll…eat the last frozen pizza.

Have a good day yourselves.

I feel your pain about grocery shopping – just seems like one more thing on my to-do list nowadays. Last night we had hot dogs with watermelon and baked beans.

Tonight is pasta with sauteed zucchini and red onions. I have some yummy red grapes in the fridge to go with that. I, too, still have one frozen pizza on hand.

I also have frozen shrimp and cod. So, I may use that up before heading to the store. The kids and I are down to pb&j for lunch or cereal. And to think I used to enjoy grocery shopping…

Almost forgot…Monday night we had tomato, spinach and cheese omelets. That was really good and refreshing!

Sounds like you could use Peapod once in a while!

You may be right. I did try them once. It was weird. But I stocked up on toilet paper with all that free shipping!

I’m in taking my first foray into cooking indian food. Tonight Im making Tandoori Chicken with some home-made Naan. Serving with some Raita and a rice dice. Ideas for the rice? The wife was thinking Jasmine but i think thats more of a SE asian thing. Thoughts?

I think I’d pick basmati. And it was sooo nice of you to invite me!

  7. Dan H says:

Thoughts for preparing the Basmati rice DISH (not dice… see above)?

I just make it plain. Then it goes with everything.
