One of you e-mailed this story from BrookfieldNOW yesterday on the Brookfield Common Council’s decision to plop a green roof onto the Wirth Aquatic Center.
Egads! What a remarkable waste of taxpayer money. Here’s what Ryan offered with his e-mail:
A big waste of money, no?
I really didn’t like to see the line:
But other Common Council members said the roof would make a statement that the city is being progressive.
A big part of the appeal of Brookfield for my wife and I is that they would be one of the last places to get suckered into the idea that being “progressive” is inherently a good thing.
I should say! Not to mention what kind of idiots crawl into bed with MMSD? The sewer district will be funding part of the roof’s cost.
Mr. Ponto, as our new mayor, now would be a heck of a time to pull out that veto pen and then educate your council as to the dangers of asserting a “progressive” agenda – especially in this voting environment.
Three cheers to 1st district Alderman Bill Carnell who called this one like he saw it. The council minutes aren’t posted yet, so I can’t tell if anyone else agreed with him. The article certainly didn’t indicate other voters.
Good grief, I hope someone did. If not, Common Council, there’s this little Robert’s Rules of Order tool called reconsideration that you should learn.
