That was on a t-shirt my folks gave to Son #2. I’m thinking of digging through his closet to see if it’s still there and making it my new motto. I could accomplish a lot today, really, if I had some kind of labor force who wouldn’t question me. Let’s see…
First I had the urge to clean up a few corners in the house. I’m one to keep dried flowers around and noticed a couple of containers were a little faded, so I dumped them. Then I went to my dried hydrangea stash in the garage (What? You don’t have a dried hydrangea stash?) and arranged one container, a No. 2 Red Wing crock, to go back on a table in the family room. The fresher green looks nice against the walls. However, I left a heck of a mess in the garage.

I’d been saving the stash for mom. This is where I say I’m sorry Mom, but once I got into the flowers this afternoon, I realized there wasn’t much worth saving. It’s all been deposited in the big Fiskars pop-up yard bag awaiting a trip to the dump on Tuesday. (Oops, we’re supposed to say “Recycling Center” in Brookfield, aren’t we?) By the way to whomever is reading and might want a birthday idea – I can use at least one and maybe two more of these pop up bags. The one I have has been a workhorse, but could stand to be retired.
Anyway, after dragging the dried flowers across the garage to the yard bag, it became very obvious I would need to do something about the mess I left behind, so I dutifully swept the garage floor.
Sweeping the garage floor is one of those tasks I like to have done rather than do. (The desire for that labor pool again!) I know for a fact a well tended garage means the back door and kitchen floor stay cleaner, but darn it, who wants to waste all that energy sweeping a garage you don’t really see? I was surprised there was still a salty residue this late in the spring. It’s weird to actually taste salt when you’re sweeping.
Honestly, that may be it for me today. I had thought I might work outside a bit, but my motivation slipped away. And alas, there is no super power to save me.
