Dear Kohler

Your Fairfax kitchen faucet is a piece of junk.

When I replaced it the first time, I trusted you and put in the same model thinking surely the poor performance of the original one was a fluke. Now that I’m replacing it a second time, I realize I was the fool.

No more.

I’m switching to Grohe. I think. As soon as I can find the right one and rustle up the fortune it’s going to take to buy and install it.

You broke my heart, Kohler. A girl wants nothing more than to stand at her kitchen sink with a faucet that actually works. You refused to deliver.

Good riddance.

Now, that is sad! BUT I know what you mean.

    and ugly…

  3. Cindy says:

I always rather liked it. The new one isn’t much different, but it is much more expensive.

I hope you didn’t pay for the second faucet. I’ve got Kohler littered all over our house. Had trouble with one faucet and called their customer service. They replaced it no questions asked (the second one still works fine). It’s a shame they’ve turned you off, I really think they have superior products.

  5. Cindy says:

Oh yes, I did. I called after the first one and they sent me a new cartridge but otherwise didn’t make an effort. Do you think I should try again?

  6. BrkfldDad says:

I would. The pride themselves in the product and service. I got not only the cartridge replaced, but the whole darn faucet.

I really like the Grohe LadyLuxe stainless faucet that we installed with our kitchen remodel. The Elkay stainless sink is also a great substitution for the former Kohler sink we had. Kohler is used by many or most new home builders. My brother, who is a home builder, told me that Kohler is very good at marketing their products (hence all the slick ads,) but the quality is only middlin’. I would have to agree since we’ve had to replace both cast iron sinks and faucets made by Kohler when the finishes failed after a few years. For their prices, I expect the finishes to last longer.
I ordered my sink and faucet from HomeCenter.com. The plumber quoted about $ 2,000 for both fixtures, but I was able to buy them for under $ 1,000 online.
