Last night was book club. Usually I show up the next day with a gushing review of whatever we’ve read. This time I have an itty-bitty confession.
I didn’t read the book.
The selection was The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. The general consensus was the book took about 60 pages to get started, and then it was a page turner similar to something Dan Brown had written. I couldn’t even get that far.
You see, one of the ladies who had read the book early mentioned “that part about the S & M was a little odd” and I threw out a mental block. Now why would I read something with that kind of stuff in it? Oh, I know it takes all kinds, but listen, it doesn’t mean I have to participate.
So that’s it. I did pick up the book from the airport bookstore several weeks ago. I have it. It’s probably just going to sit there, though.
And last night I did the unthinkable. I went for the first hour of chatter and goodies, and then I came home. The spouse had a rare early night, and we caught up. Not such a bad alternative.

The next book is A Short History of Women by Kate Walbert. I guess I best go read the link so I’ll know what I’m getting into.
