BrookfieldNow has the most fascinating piece (drip that with sarcasm) on Elmbrook’s plan to spend money on new office buildings. Don’t let it be lost on you clever readers that this is coming out on election day.
And please, can someone do the numbers and show how much has been spent on CAO in the last five years? Deferred maintenance my (better not use that word. You make up one you like.)
Every summer I can remember has seen huge new interior remodeling projects.
Someone’s an idiot here, and frankly it’s looking like that would be the majority of Elmbrook taxpayers for not paying attention to just how hungrily Superintendent Matt Gibson looks at your wallet.
Stick ‘em in a corner on the backside of Dixon or Burleigh or in one of those new fancy bits of one of the high schools.
You won’t, though. You’ll watch the school board swallow this argument and then you’ll feel so sorry for the district for running out of money that you’ll vote in favor of an operational referendum three years from now.
I gotta get out of this place.
Honestly, I think the district is fine in its current CAO building. It would cost $4.9 million to build an entire new CAO building compared to $3.4 million to repair the current CAO building, according to the article. I think the current building should be repaired and spending on the facility should be decreased after that, including those “interior remodeling projects”.
How many of you saw… were approached and asked… then completed the Elmbrook survey outside your local polling place after voting today?
- Do U have a child in school?
- R U aware of $16m shortfall?
- How much extra would U pay/yr to alleviate the budget crunch?
$50?___ $100___ $150___ nada___
- R U confident the board can fix this?
- Your name and e-mail if U want to join a committe?
I smell referendum prep… to be touted as a community mandate. It seemed they were inviting parents with kids to take the survey. Might this skew results?
I’ve heard referendum prep twice now. I predict they’ll push one in two years and then pass something on the second try in three. And you’re right. They’ll take a non-scientific survey and swear it’s what we want.
Hmm…how many closets will I need to clean before I sell?
I have kids in the district. They saw me, didn’t say a word to me on the way in or the way out. And they were not occupied with anyone either time I passed them. They definitely were being very selective with whom they talked to.
then leave cindy……
Thinkin’ about it. After all, bold folks like yourself are walking around with real opinions. I mean, who can argue with that, right?
Of course, given tonight’s results, maybe I’ll stick around a while and see what else I can help change.
of course, you could stick around and be an active member of the community, rather than a coward who hides behind her computer and makes malicious comments about people and thinks she knows the half of it when she really knows jack.
Just my opinion. Remaining anon, because I don’t want my name to get dragged through the mud the way you have done to so many others. You are just to be a bitter old gal with nothing better to do. Get out and get a life on the other side of your blogs.
There wasn’t anyone taking a survey at Heritage Christian, District 7′s voting place, today at 2pm.
Those of us in District 7 did find out our voting place was being moved to St. Lukes on Greenfield and Davidson(?), not even in our district!
Maybe Elmbrook would like to buy back Heritage and put their office there so we could still vote in our district.
Blah blah blah. I’m out there. I’d imagine you are, too. I just use my real name, that’s all.
Why is it every time I disagree with one of you anonymous types I’m called “bitter.” I’m not the crankypants here, but I’m pretty sure people can figure that out.
The 2nd district hasn’t voted in the district for as long as I can remember. We’ve survived.
You do seem bitter sometimes. But you’re also not a coward, and you’re usually pretty spot-on, at least with local stuff. Thanks for playing, anon!
Well there you go. Anon and something called the Lorax have spoken.
To be honest, I looked up the word. I’d always used it for resentful (or as a taste description) and will defend in that sense I’m not bitter. However, I did see a couple of definitions that were more like sharp-tongued – and to that I admit. I don’t put up with a lot.
Over defending yourself the way you have, speaks volumes. As for being out there. I don’t see you and trust me, I would. The only way you are out there is with your hurtful, inaccurate and frankly – the definitions if you would like to go there:
exhibiting intense animosity d (1) : harshly reproachful (2) : marked by cynicism and rancor e : intensely unpleasant especially in coldness or rawness
3 : expressive of severe pain, grief, or regret
I think that sums it up.
I have no desiring to get into a pissing match with an anonymous commenter on my own blog. You aren’t the first person to be unhappy with me. You won’t be the last.
Your opinion carries little weight when even you don’t believe in it enough to stand behind it. I guess that means I can discount it, too.
Slight change of subject… seque on the word “bitter”!
We used to be regulars at Heinemann’s on Bluemound ~ began when we had some kitchen remodeling done. Stopped at Kinkos/FedEx yesterday to copy some family geneology info. Noticed “Brookfield Family Restaurant” was open in the old Heinemann’s location. Stopped to see the menu.
Looked good so we stopped in for a brunch today. Food was heavy and greasy, nothing like the healthier fare offered by their predecessor.
As we ate, a newly seated customer next to us carried on a LOUD cell phone conversation about all her problems! Doesn’t she know, that’s what blogs are for!
It became positively stomach churning. The bitter bile began flowing, we left before wretching.
Rating: 0 of 5 stars.
I was surveyed at Emmanual Lutheran, my first district polling place. I am retired, have never had kids in the district.
