Trade offs

The big news yesterday was Obama’s call for offshore drilling. Or at least what the media is hyping as his call for offshore drilling. Check the dates. Why does most of what this man announces affect dates outside of his current term?

Sure, the announcement is being sold as a way to woo Republicans. I suspect in the end it will actually be a way to slam those same Republicans who see through the smoke and mirrors and calendars and won’t give in to Cap and Trade.

The health care bill just whipped through congress swore miraculous healing under the same bizarre timelines.

We’re being manipulated. Don’t trade off your intelligence in exchange for another media moment. (And didn’t the Main Dude have more than his share yesterday? I swear, he’s a junkie.)

So did the “main dude” say he would allow “drilling?” Or did he say he would allow “exploration?” It could be that he will say “it all depends on what the meaning of exploration is.”

  2. The Lorax says:

I think the new fuel standards are the tradeoff to drilling.

  3. Cindy says:

I was just watching where the fuel standards were something inherited by Obama and actually slowed down by the Democratic congress in order to look good in front of voters.

    Pooey.

  4. The Lorax says:

Really? Hmm. What was it? I thought the public was pretty supportive of higher fuel standards.

  5. Cindy says:

I’ll dig around for the details. Here’s a start.

So, Obama whines about some of the stuff he inherited and takes credit for other things he inherited. He seems to always want it both ways.

  6. The Lorax says:

But by your logic, I could just claim Bush was doing it to appease the 75% of Americans who disapproved of the job he was doing, never fully intending to increase standards.

And if Obama inherited it, doesn’t that mean Bush never got the job done?

  7. Cindy says:

Twist in the breeze, Lorax. You can pretend what you’d like. My point is Obama isn’t really doing anything but a bunch of news conferences here. You can argue whatever you’d like. As usual, you’re mostly typing to yourself.

Like I mentioned before, the Democratic congress stopped the Bush plan. Guess those better fuel standards are only helpful sometimes.

  8. The Lorax says:

Another failed attempt at conversation. Have a good one.

  9. Dan H says:

Lorax – Don’t cry. You got crushed again, no big deal.

  10. Jim says:

I would hardly call it “crushed”

  11. The Lorax says:

Oh, this thread is a two-fer. Cindy thinking i’m attacking when i’m simply asking questions, and Dan being a bully.

You two are my favorite April “Fools”

  12. Cindy says:

    I wouldn’t say “crushed” either.

Lorax, if you need help in this area, try softening your approach before you spit. I know you are capable. Let me know if you need an example of one way that would have encouraged a little online conversation instead of shutting it down.
