Alas, no Meatloaf again.
The Oriental Theatre is dumping the long-running interactive screen flick for something called The Room. No doubt they think the public wants to participate in the sex scenes.
Do you have a favorite Rocky Horror memory? I still recall the first time I saw it. Yes, I’m dating myself here, but I’ll say it – 1981. One of my oldest son’s friends just commented on Facebook in the last week that he’d gone for the first time.
I love it that something withstood the test of generations! And to think, future boys won’t have any legitimate excuse to dress in drag.
Maybe the Oriental will see the error in their ways and at least find a way to share the screen.

I saw the RHPS at the Valley Art Theater on Mill Avenue in Tempe, AZ in the early 90′s. I was about 18 or so.
There was an actual stage in front of the screen and “actors” took to the stage during the film.
Mill is one of the streets near the Arizona State campus and it used to have a reputation as rather counterculture. I think it pretty much went mainstream in the late 90′s and early 00′s. The Valley Art is probably a Starbucks now.

I haven’t seen RHP at the Oriental since before the theater was reconfigured, but costumed people used to go up on the stage there all the time as well. I always felt sorry for the cleaning crew, having to sweep up all the rice and toast after each show!

Considering she’s 63, she’s still not all that bad…

Whoa. I should say so! If we could just duct tape her mouth closed…
