Street Seen at the Milwaukee Art Museum

Yesterday I took a couple of hours to head downtown and see the photography exhibit at MAM. I’m glad I did.

Right there in the middle of dozens of black and whites, it hit me. My photography isn’t about documenting the way things are; it’s about articulating the way I see them. I practically skipped out of there renewed in my enthusiasm for my hobby.

I toyed around most of the day remaining looking at new equipment. I eventually decided against any major purchase and instead settled on a new mid-range lens with image stabilization. It felt like a good choice.

The other point of resolve? A few winter photos. I’ve had shots in my head for a while, but good grief I hate being out in the cold. I’m going to try to tough it out and try to get it done anyway.

Maybe I should have ordered some thicker socks, too.

I’ll leave you with a couple of snaps I’ve taken that I was reminded of from yesterday’s show.

Where was the third picture taken?

The island of St. Kitts. That’s the Queen Elizabeth II at the top, I think.

I am particularly fond of the one with the children running.
