And then the project dissolved into “that will have to do.”
All the morning errands went off without a hitch. Trophies delivered? Check. Ancient suitcases conveyed? Yep.
While most of the encyclopedias went on their recycling way, a few volumes of Childcraft stayed behind. I mean, how do you part with Poems and Verses? I swear I sharpened my reading skills on the set my parents had for me. Ditto Fables, and Things to Make and Do. Things to Make and Do is probably the best gathering of rainy-day to-dos in the history of childhood.
So they stayed.
I tell you what surprised me, though. While the encyclopedias made free a full shelf, by the time I rearranged all the double stacked books and moved of few of last year’s book club selections from the tables, it was full again. My dream of moving books out of the dining room will have to wait.
Maybe I could buy more shelves…
