Why in the world didn’t I do this ages ago?
Who knows what makes the switch finally click, but it’s on now, and stuff is flying out of here. I had a decent round of tossing about a year ago, but that was mostly the basement. This one is a nasty back room turned monster closet and a couple of kids rooms.
I feel cabinets and drawers in my future.
It’s strange to step back and see what’s going. It’s like you find a window into your weaknesses when you see the piles headed out to the van or trash. I have a recurring problem with pillows. I think it’s a desire to find one that’s just right. Combined with that is this bizarre habit of storing every set of bedding we’ve ever used. (Ok, the spaceman comforter was deemed a childhood memory and stayed, lots of other stuff went.)
I also realized I have a suitcase problem. Back to that “find the right one” issue. My new rule is the perfect suitcase is a cheap suitcase. That way when they ruin it in baggage handling there’s less guilt when it’s time to toss it.
This process feels good. Deep breath good.
Still, I wish they’d put the necessary incentive in a pill form so it wouldn’t take so long to find this groove.
Doesn’t it feel good?! That’s great that you are having fun with it! Just think of all the room you’re creating literally and figuratively for new and better things to come into your life! Plus, you are helping to bless others with the things you don’t need or use anymore. I can’t think of a more win/win situation than that!
