Well, it’s that time again. I usually whip through this shopping thing easily, but this year I’m stumbling. It seems a member of my family blew through the usual $20 per person budget, so now I have to decide if I should as well. In addition, there’s one kid for which I’m really having trouble coming up with ideas.
So what’s your budget looking like this year? Are you making anything?
We lit the first Advent candle last Sunday, so the clock is already ticking. I guess I better get busy.

We lit our Advent candle, too. Each week we’re taking a different focus and this week it’s Grace. Every night at dinner we discuss how Grace entered into the fabric of our day. We’ve had some wonderful discussions! I think we all move so fast through our days we overlook the gifts Grace brings. Over the next 3 weeks we’ll focus on Hope, Joy, and Faith. We are keeping budgets and gifts low key this year; however, we’ve never gone over the top for the holidays. Each child will get one piece of clothing at $20 or less and then a “treat” at $5. For instance, that could be a 4-pk of Frappacino or some Ghiardelli chocolate. We’re using the rest of the Christmas Club for a family gift so maybe a flat screen since we’re still using the “tube” television that we had after college! We also decided to have some fun with white elephant gifts on Christmas with the extended family instead of the usual gift exchange. Should make for some good memories
